Sweltering!
Too hot for anyone, let alone a Brit. Rain I can cope with. Weeks and weeks of gray sky? Bring it on, my spirits shall remain high. Even the snow wasn’t too bad. But 100 degree temperature AND humdity? Forget it.
Of course my WIP is set during winter time.
I am sitting here watching the temperature rise and rise, writing about snow. My characters are constantly struggling into and out of hats, and boots, and thick wool coats. They wrap long brightly knit scarves around their necks. They walk briskly from place to place, hands shoved deep in their pockets, unless they rest in someone elses. In which case they lament the fact they’re wearing gloves. The sky is that amazing true blue, not the washed out almost white, I can see from my window. There is the scent of cinnamon and spice and fur cones in the air and night never seems far away.
EMMA is set during the last. hot, sticky days of a Maryland summer. I wrote it during snowmeggedon. which which seems typical. I may have to go back and see if I remembered this heat right.

LOL! Does writing about cold in the heat make you feel cooler, and writing about heat in the cold make you warmer? I have heard that can actually work. I should try it out by writing an arctic scene today. It's so hot here in Michigan that my husband and I broke down and installed ACs in our windows for the first time in our four-and-a-half-year marriage. I've been afraid my computer would overheat!

LOL! I am from the South, and can't stand this sweltering, sticky, sweaty heat that hits every year…and surprises me every time.

I'm sorry you're roasting in the heat (or, since it's humid, maybe "steaming" is the better word). How funny, though, that you wrote Emma in the winter and this new book in the heat of the summer! Maybe longing for the opposite season makes the descriptions come through better? Good luck with your new book!

hahahaha – that's kind of funny in aN IRONIC WAY 🙂 i ALWAYS FEEL A LITTLE THE SAME READING ALL THESE LOVELY SUMMER BOOKS THAT ARE COMING OUT NOW DURING OUR aUSTRALIAN WINTER (ALTHOUGH i LIVE ON THE COAST AND IT'S NOT VERY COLD, REALLY)
