Countdown to Chritsmas – Guest Post by Joelle Anthony

Today’s guest post is from the JoĆ«lle Anthony, author of Restoring Harmony May 13th 2010 by Putnam Juvenile (pre-order it, it’s fantastic!). I have to admit I’ve never read any of the Betsy-Tacy books but I love a good, long courtship, full of drama, so I’m adding them to my TBR pile. You should too.

I can say without hesitation that the most romantic couple in YA lit is Betsy Ray and Joe Willard from Maud Hart Lovelace’s Betsy-Tacy series. It takes them years, and six books (seven if you count Carney’s Houseparty), to finally work it all out too, which means there’s lots of drama and tension and you pretty much want to hit Betsy over the head and flatten her fake curls for being so stubborn. But if they got together for good at fourteen, I guess the last six books of the series would’ve been kind of boring anyway. And I’m not really giving anything away since all you have to do is look at the cover of Betsy’s Wedding to figure it out. Still…how they get there is a real joy and I highly recommend you drop whatever you’re reading now and start reading about Betsy & Joe!
JoĆ«lle Anthony’s young adult novel, Restoring Harmony, is a riveting tale of how a resourceful teen survives, and even finds romance, in a dystopian future world where no one is as they seem. Putnam Books for Young Readers, May 2010

Remember if you write a blog post about your favourite couple you get an extra 10 points in the contest. To enter go here!

EDIT The lovely and generous Joelle has added to the prize pack a Restoring Harmony Magnet and post it note pack. If you haven’t seen the cover of Restoring Harmony. It is gorgeous. Click here.
