BTT – Presents

What, if any, memorable or special book have you ever gotten as a present? Birthday or otherwise. What made it so notable? The person who gave it? The book itself? The “gift aura?”
As a child I loved Judith Kerr’s Mog Series and as a teacher I used them a lot in class. So one of my best book presents was when my boyfriend (now my husband) went to London to get me a signed copy of Goodbye Mog, the last book in the series. If you haven’t read it, you should it is beautiful, makes me cry when ever I read it and is excellent for explaining he death of animals to children.

A good bit of emotion in that book: childhood, lesson plans, boyfriend/husband. No wonder that’s your answer! Happy Booking Through Thursday. I have a book giveaway going on; check out my sidebar if you’re interested.

I have received books as part of books a couple of times I think, but one was particularly special because it had a story behind it.
The NY Subway is a great place to spot good books, yes!! If you are able to sneak in a glance without seeming overly intrusive, you can find out about the great books! This is how I learned about Haruki Murakami and his book ‘Kafka on the shore’. I shared this incident as i normally do with close friends since I really liked the description I read online, and many many months later, a friend (N)remembered and bought me this book. Very thoughtful, yes? 🙂
