This Week’s Topic
What was the best book you read in February?
Despite being the shortest month I read more books than usual in February, 8 in fact. While many of them were good, even excellent, the hands down winner was
Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley
I have been waiting over a year for this book, after reading some amazing reviews and, oh it was so worth the wait! It is amazing, and beautiful, and just perfect!
I am in deep, deep love with this book. It may even be rivaling Saving Francesca as my favourite YA ever. I am exhausted today because I stayed up very, very late finishing it, but I couldn't stop. I had to know what happened to Ed, Lucy, Leo, Jass, Daisy, Dylan, Shadow and Poet. Plus (and I do this very very rarely) I am re-reading already. It is just that good and I'm not ready to leave the world yet.
Run, RUN!, to your nearest bookshop to get your hands on this.
Full review to come soon, when I am more coherent.

Okay, I'm running! I don't know why I haven't gotten my copy of this yet--I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteYay enjoy!
DeleteI've been wanting to read GRAFFITI MOON--now I definitely need to find a copy of it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book this month was Ruta Sepetys's BETWEEN SHADES OF GRAY, which is a young adult historical novel about the deportation of Lithuanians to labor camps in Siberia during Stalin's Reign of Terror. A heart-wrenching read, but totally worth it. Very hope-filled, too.
Oh I hope you love it Kim, I just thought it was wonderfully well done!
DeleteI must read BETWEEN SHADES OF GRAY i loved your review.
GRAFFITTI MOON is definitely on my TBR list. After this review, though, it might need to get bumped up. For whatever reason, I seem to identify with a lot of Australian YA, and isn't this Australian?
ReplyDeleteYes it is Australian, I'm a huge fan too.
DeleteI wanted so desperately to love this book, but for whatever reason I just could not get hooked. What was your favorite aspect of this novel? Why did you love it so much?
ReplyDeleteOh really, I'm so sad you didn;t like it.
DeleteI'll be writing a proper review but just quickly here are some things I loved
The set up, the whole one night thing
The alternating point of view
The writing - especially the amazing dialogue
Poets poems
The friendships
The parents being in it and relevant.
So how is it that I'd not heard of this one before?! I've added it to my to-read list. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteHope you love it.
DeleteWow, that's quite an endorsement. On the TBR list. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I love something I LOVE it :)
DeleteI really want to read this one!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good!
DeleteI am such a bad Australian! I haven't read either Marchetta or Crowley. I've been meaning to but haven't got there yet!
ReplyDeleteOh read them both ASAP - so very good!
DeleteI also read more books in Feb than most months, despite it being shorter. And Graffiti moon was on that list. I didn't love it as much as you did, but definitely thought it was a fantastic read. Couldn't put it down! And I absolutely loved all the snippets of poetry throughout it
ReplyDeleteWeird that less time and you do more with it :)
DeleteI am SO glad you loved this one :) <3
ReplyDeleteADORED! So worth the wait! Thanks for the recommendation
DeleteSO LOVED THIS TOO <3
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this one yet - thanks for the tip. I love when books insist I stay up way past my bedtime! :)
