The YA Highway is a great blog. If you're a fan of YA and you're not reading it you should check it out. They have a fun weekly meme and this week I thought I'd join in.
The question is
If literary characters had twitter accounts, whose tweets would you follow?
Well I love tweets that make me smile. All these characters have made me laugh out loud with their witty remarks, snarky dialogue and unique views.
Audrey from Audrey Wait by Robin Benway
Sophie from Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
Ruby from The Ruby Oliver books by E. Lockhart
Jamie from The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan
Poe from The Secret Society Girl books by Diana Peterfreund (I doubt he'd have a Twitter account though, although Amy might make him)
Who would you follow?
I haven't read any of those books! *runs off to add to Goodreads list*
ReplyDeleteMelissa Marr
ReplyDeleteCarrie Ryan
Jackson Pearce
Chloe Neill
I follow those tweets
E. Lockhart writes some great characters - their tweets would rock!
ReplyDeleteGreat list - you aren't the only one who mentioned Sophie!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these books yet either, but all of them come highly recommended. :)
ReplyDeletehuh, i've never thought of this before! uhmmm maybe Hassan from An Abundance of Katherines, he'd be a riot.
ReplyDeleteFrancesca :) and Tom and that psycho tara finke (and all the other MM characters)
Grover from Percy Jackson
Scarlett from Suite Scarlett
Fred and George! "just turned percy into a turnip. another day at WWW..." I can dream xp
i think they'd just tweet funny things :) Totally agree with Audrey from Audrey Wait too. This was an awesome post!
Oh, Jamie! I completely forgot about him! I liked him too. He was my second favorite character in the book, Alan being the first. I'll have to check out the rest of the books you mentioned though.
ReplyDeleteGreat question!
ReplyDeleteI'd add:
Katniss
Anne of Green Gables
Bilbo - although they'd probably all be about food :)

ReplyDeleteI am SOOOOO behind on my reading. *adds to shopping list*
ReplyDeleteEugenides from Megan Whalen Turner's "Thief" series
ReplyDeleteAnne Shirley from L.M. Montgomery's "Anne" books
Howl from Diana Wynne Jones' "Howl" series
Enna from Shannon Hale's "Goose Girl" series
Ella from Gail Carson Levine's ELLA ENCHANTED (it would totally make her curse not so bad if her writing wasn't under the curse, too!)
Oh, I'd have so much fun doing this!!! I'll stop here, though. :)
Ooh some great, great suggestions from all of you!
ReplyDeleteI love it that you picked Poe - and I agree Amy would probably pester him until he made an account and they would probably be all snarky and obscure references. But I echo another commenter that I'd love to read Scarlett's texts from The Suite Scarlett books.
ReplyDeleteOh...that is some nice topic. Well, on the top of my head it would have to be:
ReplyDelete1. John Galt from Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
2. Howard Rourke from The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
3. Scarlett O'Hara from Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
4. Any character from Quo Vadis by Henrik Senkevich
Oh, I can think of so many more but I will stop here now.
Take a look at my blog @ http://readwithstyle.blogspot.com/
Great list
